Dean Ackman, a Vitnam veteran and retired mechanical engineer from IBM, thought he needed to have some fun, so in the way of a true DIYer, the man went ahead and built a 21-foot submarine for himself. While a veteran and mechanical engineer building a submarine may not sound as impressive as a farmer building one, but Ackman makes up for that with a far more “professional” look and more functions for the sub.
The submarine’s support pod is based on the Kittredge 350 Submersible, and the sub can dive 350-feet under the water. He has spent nearly $40,000 on the sub, and it requires a bit more work before the submarine can fully explore the depths.
