This limited edition Ulysse Nardin Planet Earth Desk Clock captures the universe, as conceived by Dr. Ludwig Oechslin. The front of the mahogany case has the simple hour and minute clock but the real impressive part is the sphere at the top. It represents the planet earth, and remains fixed. Ironically enough, the inner sphere represents the universe as seen from earth. This rotating inner sphere comes with markings of zodiacs and major fixed stars.
Rotating hands for the sun and the moon move to point the location on earth where each of these is visible; both hands have rotation times the same as the rotation of the sun and the moon. A blue dragon hand moves lazily across the sphere and points to solar and lunar eclipses. A full wind of the key can keep the clock running for 30 days.
