Nissan forgets all about the skis in its personal mobility Skis
Harshpaul | Oct 27 2009

Created by Nissan and AIST, this concept personal mobility device is inspired in ways, by the function and movement of skis. To make them more practical however, the device does away with the long skis and instead stays content with two footboards, each supported by a pair of wheels. While this may sound more like rollerskating than skiing, the addition of handlebars to help the user maintain balance is what brings the effect of skiing. To change direction, users need to lift their leg and turn, much like skiing. These “skis” can move at a maximum speed of 5kph. The handlebars on the device are removable, but when they are removed, the system can go only in the forward and reverse, losing its ability to turn.
