The RoboScooter and CityCar concepts are part of the Sustainable Personal Mobility and Mobility-on-Demand Systems developed by a team of MIT researchers and students led by Professor William J. Mitchell. The idea sees a trio, the RoboScooters working with CityCars and green wheel bicycles to allow for minimized parking space and reduced emissions. Both the RoboScooter, and the City Car are foldable electric vehicles.
The concept sees a comprehensive shared-use lightweight electric vehicles moving on the city streets and available from automatic charging racks placed at a number of locations in a city. This allows the commuter to choose the preferred vehicle, at the same time minimizing vehicles on the road. The idea is the winner of Buckminster Fuller Challenge and will receive $100,000 as prize.
