Mitsubishi announces production i-MiEV

After staying in the wings for sometime, the i-MiEV is finally on its way to the production lines. The four-seat electric vehicle will be available to corporations and government groups in July this year, with a total of 1,400 cars earmarked for 2009. Private buyers will have to wait till April next year to get the electric car. It can cover 160kms on a full battery charge, and is powered by a 47kW motor that also provides 180Nm of torque. The car will retail for JPY 4,599,000 ($47,100).
