Fujitsu has announced plans for a full-blown in-car entertainment system. The 1394 Automotive controller system allows simultaneous transmission of multiple streams of HD content throughout the vehicle. The Fujitsu MB88395 controller makes this streaming possible, with an 800 Mbps physical layer and link layer feeding high-def content for all passengers.
The system is lightweight and more cost effective as compared to competing mechanisms. That translates into slight savings in fuel and lower emissions, comparable to “the amount of CO2 a beech tree absorbs in one year.”
