Volkswagen has unveiled its 1-liter concept vehicle, the L1 concept, and the full hybrid claims to be one of the “most fuel efficient cars in the world.” And it has pretty figures to back up that claim. The concept is highly aerodynamic with coefficient of drag at just 0.195. And it gets an astounding fuel efficiency of a whopping 170 mpg.
The concept has a TDI engine, an electric motor and a seven speed DSG for high fuel efficiency. The car is a tandem 1+1 seater and can reach a top speed of 160 kmph. CO2 emissions from the L1 are at just 36 g/km and it weighs just 380 kgs (838 lbs). It has an “ECO Mode” where the engine generates maximum power of 27PS, to reach its top speed, the vehicle shifts to “Sport Mode” where the power output increases to 39 PS.
