Road legal or not, attaching custom wings to a car, even for a “whimsical tribute to the concept of the flying car” isn’t the best thing to do. This 1996 Ford Aspire Jet AirCar prototype has custom wings made from foam, wood, metal and some other stuff. Sadly and predictably, the Jet AirCar doesn’t live up to its name, getting a top speed of 35mph with the wings up, and 15mph when they’re in the down position. Also, the seller has increased our knowledge by letting us know that driving with retractable wings is street-legal in Illinois. The car has 110,000 miles on the meter and is up for auction on eBay, with the current bid at $761.
