Towing a trailer has its good share of snaking, wobbling and overall being a trouble for the driver and passengers. The Carcamp from motorhome manufacturer Heku intends to solve the problem by getting the trailer integrated with the car. Heku has coupled the housing unit with an Opel Astra using two “sideways” towbars for a snug fit and minimal snaking.
The housing unit can be removed from the car by simply getting rid of a couple of screws, and Heku says that by keeping its rear axle close to the Astra, they have been able to get a better handling similar to that of a larger sedan. Maximum speed of the Carcamp varies from 75 to 87mph, depending on the options chosen. Pricing for the Carcamp starts at €45,480 ($65000) for the 100 hp version and goes on to €55,700 ($79,700) for the 130hp version. A 157hp turbodiesel engine is also on offer for €1,970 ($2818).
