Industrial designer Carlos Mendez created the Cube EV because almost all cars nowadays weigh many times more than their riders, and are many times the size of their riders as well. The Cube EV seeks to keep the objective at moving the rider, not a huge vehicle. It is a small personal transport, that allows high levels of customization, owners can purchase accessories like roll cages, flatbeds and windshields to fit their needs of transportation.
Cube EVs are lightweight, and stripped down vehicles making transportation and shipping of the vehicles easy and simple. The idea is a good one, but there’s a reason people move in those heavy and long cars and large deployment of these vehicles would require dramatic shifts in consumer patterns. Mendez understands that too, and he agrees these EVs won’t populate the highways, but as he says, they are good for small distances.
